OK fellas, who remembers WHEN dodge started with the 3 door extended cab (one back door) and WHEN did they start the "quad cab" with 4 doors (2 back doors) in the BE trucks?

I want to say that they never produced a 3 door.

The gen 2 trucks had a suicide back door, on either side... 4 total, but the back doors needed the fronts to be open to open the rear. So in 2002 in the 1500's and 2003 for the HD's they went to full size back doors.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Right the suicide doors, I am certain I remember dodge introducing the 3 door, then everyone else copying them. and again with the "quad cab" I just can't remember what years it was.

I'm looking for a used truck to replace the one that should sell today. I would like to know what years have the doors I want. With kids getting in the back even a 3 door would be better than a 2 door.

1998 the Quad cab was introduced. 1994-97 the extended cabs didn't have doors. 98 and up doors were optional I believe.

My '99 is a quad cab with the short back doors that open backwards. I'm not sure who was the first to have a 3-door but my dad's 1995 GMC is a 3-door.
